HIT PLAY, YOU’LL LIKE IT

This is your annual reminder plates 1 and 2 have been retired.

Maybe training didn’t go to plan, you got hurt, changed jobs, had a baby, or just plain old fell off track and never got back on. You still have the choice to show up… and that’s something.

Maybe everything did fall into place and you crushed the plan. You’re confident. Ready to claim your buckle. There’s a good chance you might get out there next weekend and find out you weren’t as ready as you needed to be. Your spirits might slip along with the buckle pace. Before you even consider texting #quitter remember you have a choice to be out there… others do not.

If you’re like most of the men and women who plan to show up you’re just hoping to survive. We guarantee at some point you are gonna doubt you can go on… you’ll look for reasons to quit. It’s a choice. You can choose to believe in yourself.

Ride for yourself. Ride for your team. Ride for those who can’t be there with us.

Just show up… and ride.

Jack & Brett. We miss you.

SELF-SUPPORTED ETHOS

We do not offer aid stations. Been that way since day one. In our eyes, you are on your own. No one is out there to save you, and if there is an emergency, you need to dial 911. Show up ready to go self-supported and pray for trail magic.

NEUTRAL SUPPORT

Neutral support (a.k.a “Trail Magic”) is allowed and must be offered to all participants in the vicinity. A complete stranger might save your race.

CHECKPOINTS

Here’s a quick refresher on checkpoints.
1. They will be located directly on the route.
2. You will collect a token from each of them.
3. You won’t know how many there are.
4. You won’t know where they are.
5. You need to present them at the finish line to be a #finisher.
6. If you don’t have all of them – DQ..

GPX-FILES

Will be available mid-week.

COURSE SIGNAGE & GPS

Course signage is your primary navigational tool but remember they fall down, bears eat em’, people pull them down. That’s why you have a gpx-file and are required to use it. In the event you get off-course, the gps will bring you back – assuming you know how to use it. We’ll spend the better part of a week preparing the course and double-checking signage, but you still need to be prepared for worse case scenarios.

ROAD RULES

This is the part where we sound like a broken record. Marji Gesick is a unique ultra-event. Not only do we not operate aid stations, we don’t put volunteers on every corner and road crossing. Racers MUST follow road rules at all times. Respect other racers and motor vehicle traffic, even ATV vehicles you might see on the two-track connectors. No one is out there helping you make good life choices. Be alert. Have your head on a swivel.

DANNY HILL CHALLENGE

You can’t finish the 100 in 12-hours or less. If you do, we’ll give ya a belt buckle and a one-dollar bill.

PARKING IS A SELF-SUPPORTED ACTIVITY

Plan ahead. Have a plan. Make sure that plan gets you to the start line with at least an hour to find parking, get yourself ready, and get to the start line. If you are going to Forestville Saturday morning we advise even more time. Parking in Marquette and Negaunee for the MG50 and Mini is adequate but you might have to ride a short distance to the start. Over at Forestville it’s possible you could end up a mile from the start – get there early. If this is your first time to Forestville pull it up on google maps. Get a lay of the land. Make sure you know where it is and how to get there.

We’re trying to set you up for success.
